The 'English & Fun' Project

The 'English and Fun' Project aims at naturally introducing English language into the everyday activities that take place at Germina.

Human resources involved: Kids and teenagers at Germina Foundation, Claudia Mussano (English teacher), Germina's educators and English speaking international volunteers 
Skills: The Project is designed to practice English oral and communication skills mainly.
Resources and teaching techniques: English language is presented and learnt through free conversations, dialogues, role plays, web 2.0 creative tools, games, songs, vocabulary worksheets and flashcards and Total Physical Response activities.
Syllabus: The Project doesn't follow a formal syllabus. The activites are normally related to kids/teenagers or educators' interests and special needs. 
Presence of English: English is the comunication language during the activities, the free time and the snack time between the kids/teenagers and the teacher as well as the Internationl volunteers. Anyway, plurilingualism is welcomed and encouraged.
Duration: 6 months
Start date - End Date: 12/1/2013 - 5/31/2014
Students age: From 5 to 19 years old, divided into 5 groups: Horses (5-7 years old), Wolves (8-9 years old), Pegasus (10-11 years old), EJ (12-16 years old) and GR (17-19 years old).
Number of students: Between 10 and 20 for each group
Timetable: The activities take place in the afternoon after school. Each group participates in a one hour / one hour and a half English activity every week. Besides, the teacher and the international volunteers participate in the daily Germina activities, using English as a tool of communication.
